Devil went down to Georgia (ala Primus)
So after downloading the old school Chuck D version, listening, laughing, remembering secretly listening to it as a little girl in my bed in the dark (to see if the radio would beep out the bad word), and realizing that Primus made a MOVIE…I had to look up the […]

Return of Saturn

There she is….rings and all. My neighbors didn’t think it was weird at all when I gasped at it’s majesty! They too shared in my glee.
I got a knock on my window at 8:30 or so from J to grab the kids and go across the street and try out W’s new Orion […]

Sawing | Science | Swearing (in)

First…I forgot to say that I played Augie’s fiddle on Sat @ Bluer and Sun @ Emmaus Road and it was awesome!  I did learn however, that it is much easier to play in front of a large group of people you have never seen before and may never see again, than it is a […]

This picture was taken before they pulled 4 teeth and added a ‘roof-of-the-mouth-expander’

Yes, I find these disturbing. And yet, fascinating. Sorry if they’re gross.
They always get a picture of me at 7am before coffee and after they’ve rubbed all my make-up off and messed up my hair.

Restoration of my Dad’s Tam

Seems like a good day to wear this.  Patchy, moth-eaten and all…
I love fixing old stuff!

I arise today through the power of God:
God’s might to comfort me,
God’s wisdom to guide me,
God’s eye to look before me,
God’s ear to hear me,
God’s word to speak for me…
-The Lorica of St. Patrick

In the last two years, I have had or been:

tortured with various medical devices
bound with teeny shackels
lacerated too many times to count
expanded and contracted
a spring in my mouth (an actual spring!)
4 teeth pulled
excluded from various activities and everyday pleasures such as eating corn on the cob.
ground down
filed with a tiny saw
poked accidentally
bone deficient
a habitual tongue […]

For those about to rock, I salute you!

Sunday, March 11th, 2007

Here I am, rock you like a hurricane!

Robosapien is never going to let me lay my stinkin’ hands on his Mexican Bass again!
And kids, lay off the caffeine…you’ll only regret it the next day.
p.s. I rock
p.p.s.  Kandi rocks for taking another slightly embarrassing, but completely accurate portrait of me!

Jack’s birthday drum! Par rum pum pum!

Sunday, March 11th, 2007

Shhhh….don’t tell him!  I found him the missing piece to his kit.  Sam has already blurted it out, luckily the ear infection Jack is recovering from prevented him from hearing what it was.
It’s a mid-eighties chrome snare drum - 14×6″ - Remo Ambassador Weatherking head and a 1960’s Ludwig stand.  It has a nice sound.
Thanks […]

Augie’s Fiddle

Thursday, March 8th, 2007

It’s here and was worth every penny restoring it. I’m only sorry that I didn’t take a picture of it before it went to ‘the man’. It’s beautiful. It’s like playing a toy, it’s so light! And ‘the man’ said that it’s a LONG violin…1/4″ longer than the longest size. […]

It must be respected…

Wednesday, March 7th, 2007

Jonah’s prayer from the belly of the whale.  Wonderful writing.
I’m still digesting this.  “It must be respected” are the words that linger in my mind.  Boundaries, I suppose.
A co-worker asked me what respect was over lunch the other day and I had a difficult time distinguishing between respect and value.  No one could really give […]
