I’m going to resist the urge to make up a bunch of entertaining pretend resolutions…
1. Be healthier without refusing juicy kisses and hugs from my children. I bought some raw apple cider vinegar today and some probiotics because the guy at the health food store said that the gut is the center of your health… Sure. Why not. So, here’s to a healthy gut and the rest of me. And hey, it tastes like crap, but if it works for Tom Hanks, JC Penney and Dr. Scholls…then why not give it a shot!
Actually, I think I’ll just work on that one resolution for now.
Braved the slippery roads and bought my Black-eyed Peas to eat tomorrow. It’s a New Year’s day tradition I remember my stepmom talking about, but I always hated them as a kid. My Dad told me that they would put hair on my chest, which made me avoid them for another 20 years. But now I like to make them, even if I eat them myself. I know they don’t hold any magical powers for bringing luck or riches, but it’s fun anyway!
Happy New Year!!!
Oh - when you drink the raw apple cider vinegar, eat some saltine crackers with it…and have Bob record it on camera! You could win Funniest Home Videos I bet!! (and I will steer clear of your house for awhile if you decide to do this!!)
I know some girls who did this to their dad when he was sick, told him that it would help him feel better. It did…kinda. But they got a HUGE laugh outa it cuz once he’d drank and eaten the two he had to throw up. Bad. And when he did, it came straight out like he was a fire breathing dragon! There was a big mess afterwards that 3 silly girls had to clean up…

Are you serious? Thanks for the warning!!! I just put it in my tea with lots of honey 3x a day. I would never drink it straight, although, the dude at teh health food store said you can put it on your salad, or make BBQ sauce. But then again, what would I put BBQ sauce on? My tofu nuggets? MMmmmm….tofu nuggets. I haven’t had any adverse effects that I can think of in the 30 hours since I had the first bit of it.
Sounds like a great practical joke for your worst enemy though…the old apple cider vinegar and saltine cracker routine.

I tried the ACV too a few months ago and I couldn’t do it. I made BBQ sauce and it was too acidic for me, it bothered my mouth. I tried the tea and honey bit and it just ended up grossing me out. So I gave up. I like cider vinegar, but not as much as they say to drink a day. Can’t do it captain.
I have also been taking probiotics for about a month and haven’t noticed anything much, but I did come down with a cold and it was gone in 2 days. I was preparing for the worst b/c my dad and sister also got sick around the same time and they were miserable and the cold barely phased me. hmmm….
Enjoy your ACV!

Ah, good ol’ apple cider vinegar brings back the memories. My dad used to take it religiously every morning. I can’t remember for sure, but maybe he took it straight, since I can’t think of any other method being utilized. He’d sit in the kitchen and have his ACV and green herb pills that we were never quite sure what they were. They were one of those bulk mystery “donations to the missionaries” that dad refused to let go to waste, so he took them for about three years until they ran out (us kids wouldn’t touch them!). Maybe the green pills neutralized the vinegar! Good luck with your resolution!
